THE MOVIE

Welcome to the Wiggles World! Murray, Jeff, Anthony and Greg are back with their friends, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Captain Feathersword but they want everyone to dance and sing along with them.

Songs on this DVD include: In The Wiggles World, Here Comes The Wiggles, In The Big Red Car We Like To Ride, I Love To Have A Dance With Dorothy, Taba Naba, Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport, Sing With Me, Hey Hey Hey We’re All Pirate Dancing, Another Cuppa, Six Months In A Leaky Boat (Wiggly Version), One Little Coyote, Blow Me Down, Let’s Go (We’re Riding In The Big Red Car), Morningtown Ride, Haru Ga Kita.

The Wiggles - It’s A Wiggly Wiggly World! also features appearances by a number of special guests including Slim Dusty, Christine Anu, Rolf Harris and Tim Finn. Slim Dusty loves to dance with Dorothy, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Captain Feathersword. Christine sings Taba Naba in the Meriam Mir language, it’s a song from the eastern Torres Strait islands all about going down to the reef and having a great time. Kamahl sings with Dorothy the Dinosaur, Rolf Harris brings along his wobble board and Captain Feathersword does a new pirate dance while Tim Finn sings a modified version of Six Months In A Leaky Boat.

THE TRANSFER

Video:

The Wiggles - It’s A Wiggly Wiggly World! is presented in an aspect ratio of 1.33:1 full frame. From the outset it’s evident that this DVD has a markedly different look to some of the more traditional Wiggles titles. Virtually all scenes look as though it has been filmed in front of a green screen and an animated backdrop have been added during post production. The good news is that the animation is satisfactory and the live action footage and the animated backdrops have been cut together quite well. The level of detail is reasonably good and there was no noticeable film grain. There is a little bit of background pixellation during the scenes that take place in front of detailed wide angle backdrops. Colours are incredibly rich and vibrant, the animated backdrops certainly help in this regard.

Audio:

The Wiggles - It’s A Wiggly Wiggly World! is loaded with some great songs and all of the song lyrics are clearly audible. Similarly, dialogue by Murray Cook, Jeff Fatt, Anthony Field and Greg Page is clearly audible. There is some dreadful lip synching on this DVD and it gives the impression that audio synch isn’t quite right. I can’t imagine that any of the target audience will be overly concerned by this problem though. The DVD features a 2.0 channel soundtrack and it also comes with English subtitles for the hearing impaired and song captions so the kids can sing along with all The Wiggles songs.

THE EXTRAS

Murray and his Marvellous Guitar Storybook
This is an electronic storybook written by Kathleen Warren. As you’d expect, the story is about Murray and his guitar, he is urgently needed at the seaside by Henry the Octopus. The storybook is fully animated, being presented in 1.33:1 full frame with Dolby Digital 2.0 channel sound. Running time is 3.47 minutes.

Wiggly Wiggly World Friends
Here is something for the adults, two of the special guests who appear on this DVD (Jimmy Little and Christine Anu) are interviewed by The Wiggles. As Slim Dusty passed away before this DVD was released, his wife is instead interviewed and she talks about some of his greatest achievements. Running time is 22.32 minutes.

Lights, Camera, Action, Wiggles
This DVD also comes with two episodes (No. 8 and No. 9) from the Wiggles television series; Lights, Camera, Action, Wiggles! Both of these episodes are presented in 1.33:1 full frame with Dolby Digital 2.0 channel sound. In the first episode, the Wiggles sing about mashed bananas, there’s gardening with Captain Feathersword and Anthony plays the ‘Where’s Jeff’ game. In the second episode, the Wiggles try to wake up Jeff, Dorothy the Dinosaur visits a ballet class and Captain Feathersword tries to play croquet. Running times are 11.02 minutes and 11.09 minutes, respectively.

SUMMARY

Join The Wiggles in their Wiggly Wiggly World. This DVD features a number of great songs and what’s more, The Wiggles are joined by a quite a few special guests including Slim Dusty, Christine Anu, Rolf Harris and Tim Finn. The DVD has an excellent visual and audio transfer and there are also a number of great extra features including two bonus episodes of the Wiggles television series and an electronic storybook.
